14th January: The ‘Oxford’ Responses were performed at the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

25th January: The Sonata for Violin and Organ received its US premiere at the Episcopal Church of St Barnabas, Greenwich, Connecticut, USA. The violinist will be the work’s dedicatee, Zanta Hofmeyer, and the organist will be Marnus Lively-Grayling.

28th January: Holy Communion in D (The ‘Oxford’ Service) was performed at the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

Sundays in May-July 2024: Intermezzi Sacri were performed by the composer on the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

2nd June: Green Shadows Fall was performed by the Band of the Royal Irish Regiment, at Thiepval Barracks, Northern Ireland.

27th October: Holy Communion (The ‘Oxford’ Service) will be performed by the choir of the City Church, Oxford, conducted by the composer.

10th November: Green Shadows Fall, in the arrangement for organ solo, will be performed by David Goode on the organ of the City Church, Oxford on Remembrance Sunday.

1st December: Evening Canticles - ‘St. George’ will be performed during evensong at the City Church, Oxford.

2023

16th February : ‘Pentecost’ from Voces Organi was performed by Simon Passmore on the organ of Hexham Abbey.

26th February : Chorale Prelude No.1 – ‘Jesu, sei nun gepreiset’ was performed by the composer at the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

5th March : “…for theirs is the kingdom of heaven…” from A Sequence for St. George will be performed by the composer at the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

12th March : “…for He is the Lord our God…” from A Sequence for St. George will be performed by the composer at the organ of the City Church of St Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

18th March : Behold, O God our defender was premiered by the German Choir of London, directed by Barbara Hofling, in a concert at St. Pancras Church, London in honour of the coronation of King Charles III. There was a further performance by the same musicians, at the Paulus-Kirche, Schoeneberg, Berlin, on 22nd April.

19th March : Chorale Prelude No.2 – ‘Jesu, meine Freude’ was performed by the composer at the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

22nd April : Behold, O God our defender was given its German premiere by the German Choir, London, directed by Barbara Hofling in a concert at the Pauluskirche, Schoneberg, Berlin, in honour of the coronation of King Charles III.

12th May : Ite, Missa Est for solo organ received its premiere at the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music, at the church of St. Pancras, London. It is a festival commission. It was repeated in the same venue on Sunday 14th May.

21st May : Behold, O God our defender was performed at the Deutsche Evangelische Christuskirche, Knightsbridge, London, by the German Choir of London, directed by Barbara Hofling.

22nd June : Spring Suite for Recorders and Piano will be premiered by its dedicatee, John Turner, at St. Paul’s Church, Heaton, Stockport.

2nd July : Except the Lord build the house was performed during Evensong at the City Church of St. Michael at the Northgate, Oxford.

2nd July : Chorale Prelude – ‘Weg, mein Herz, mit den Gedanken’ was performed by the composer at the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

15th July : Green Shadows Fall, for military band, received its premiere at the Corps Day of the Intelligence Corps, at Chicksands, attended by HRH The Princess Royal. The work was commissioned by the Intelligence Corps and was performed by the Band of the British Army, Colchester.

3rd September : Chorale Prelude – ‘O Mensch, bewein dein Suende gross’ was performed by the composer at the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

September (date and venue t.b.c.) : Fantasia 150 will be performed in New York by Professor Theo van Wyk (from the University of Pretoria in South Africa).

8th October : Preces and Responses – The ‘Oxford’ Service were premiered at the City Church of St Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, by William Purefoy (Countertenor cantor) and David Goode (organ).

10th October : Spirit of Mercy was performed during Evensong by the Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, directed by Michael Waldron.

5th November : The ‘Alderney’ Evening Canticles were performed during Evensong at the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

14th November : Creator of the Starry Height was performed by the Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, at Evensong in the College Chapel, directed by Michael Waldron.

26th November : The Service of Holy Communion in D received its premiere at the City Church of St Michael at the North Gate, directed by Tom Hammond-Davies.

26th November : Creator of the Starry Height was performed at the Advent Carol Service by the Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, directed by Michael Waldron.

10th December : The carol Es ist ein Ros entsprungen received its first performance, by the German Choir of London, under the direction of Barbara Hoefling, at the Church of St. Lawrence Jewry, London.

17th December : The Advent Carol Adventus Regis Nostri received its first performance, by the Choir of the City Church of St.  Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, directed by Tom Hammond-Davies.

2022

30th January : The Evening Canticles – ‘St. George’ were performed at the Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, in the version for Cantor and Organ, during Evensong at 3.00pm.

6th February : The City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, marked the seventieth anniversary of the accession of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with a performance of the ‘Alderney’ Evening Canticles during Evensong at 3.00pm.

3rd April : The Responses – ‘St. George’ will receive their first UK performance, in the arrangement for solo voice and organ, during Evensong at the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

15th April : “…the space immense of the azure sky…” for Alto Recorder and Piano received its premiere at the recording being made of the work for the internet. The soloist was the work’s dedicatee, John Turner, with Susan Bettaney (pianoforte). It forms part of ‘A Garland for Ukraine’ and appears on the website http://www.recorderist.co.uk.

24th April : The Canzona from Sonata for Violin and Organ was performed by Zanta Hofmeyer (Violin) and Marnus Greyling (Organ) in Linden, Johannesburg, South Africa.

14th May : To Autumn received its US premiere, at the ‘Music on Main’ Series in Stockbridge, Massachusetts. The narrator was Benjamin Luxon, and the violinist Yevgeny Kutik.

14th May : New England Elegy received its world premiere at the ‘Music on Main’ Series in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, USA. The narrator was Benjamin Luxon, and the violinist Yevgeny Kutik.

29th May : Evening Canticles – ‘Berlin’ was performed in Cologne Cathedral by the English Choir, Berlin, directed by Kathleen Bird.

5th June : The Nunc Dimittis from Evening Canticles – ‘St. George’ were performed at Evensong at the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, in a service specially dedicated to celebrating the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Helen Parker (soprano) and William Purefoy (counter-tenor) were accompanied by the composer.

17th July : …for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven and …for they shall be comforted (two movements from A Sequence for St. George) were performed by the composer at the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

31st July : A recording of the world premiere of New England Elegy and the US premiere of To Autumn (on 14th May 2022, see above) was broadcast on WMHT radio in the United States. (www.wmht.org). The Narrator is Benjamin Luxon, and the Violinist is Yevgeny Kutik.

30th August : Evening Canticles – ‘Berlin’ received their first UK performance, at Westminster Abbey, London, by the English Choir, Berlin, directed by Kathleen Bird.

11th September : Hymn Prelude – ‘St. Margaret’ was performed by the composer on the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, in Evening Prayer dedicated to the memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

24th September : Chorale Prelude – ‘Werder munther, mein Gemuete’ was performed at St. Paul’s Cathedral, London, by Imogen Morgan. The performance forms part of the complete performance of the recently-completed Orgelbuechlein project, under the auspices of the Royal College of Organists.

1st October : Fantasia on Yorkshire Folk Tunes was performed at the English Music Festival Series concert at the 1901 Arts Club, London. The performers were Rupert Marshall-Luck (Violin) and Joseph Spooner (Cello), the other works in the programme being by Britten and Maxwell-Davies. This concert also saw the launch of the EM Records CD ‘Exploring Spirit’ which features three works by Richard Pantcheff: Fantasia on Yorkshire Folk Tunes (for Solo Violin and Solo Cello); Introduction and Allegro No.1 (for Solo Violin and Solo Cello); and Introduction and Allegro No. 2 (for Two Solo Violins).

19th October : The London Choral Sinfonia, directed by Michael Waldron, featured three works by Richard Pantcheff in its concert at the Cadogan Hall, London : Fantasia 150 (for String Orchestra and Trumpets); and two anthems for a capella choir : Come, my Beloved; and Te Lucis ante Terminum. This concert was also the launch event for the latest release in the LCS’s CD series of music by Richard Pantcheff (The Music of Richard Pantcheff, Volume 3 on the Orchid Classics label).

6th November : Evening Canticles – ‘St. George’ were performed in the version for solo baritone (Theodore Nisbett) and organ (the composer) during Evensong at the the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

27th November : Advent Responsory received its UK premiere at the Advent Carol Service performed by the Choir of Lincoln College, Oxford, directed by Matthew Foster. The performance was repeated on 3rd December.

27th November : Adam Lay y Bounden was performed in Berlin Cathedral by the English Choir, Berlin, at its Advent Carol Service, directed by Kathleen Bird .

11th December : Mass of St. George, in the arrangement for solo baritone and organ, received its UK premiere at the City Church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

2021

14th March : Evening Canticles – ‘St. George’ received their first UK performance, in the version for Cantor and Organ, at the church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, with Myriam Frenkel (Soprano), and the composer at the organ.

9th May : A Prayer of St. Columba was performed by the Choir of Magdalen College, Oxford, directed by Mark Williams.

23rd May : The anthem Te lucis ante terminum received its first performance, at the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music, performed by the Choir of St. Pancras Church, London, directed by Christopher Batchelor. It was a festival commission.

6th June : Voces Organi – Movements I and V were given their first public performance at St. Ann’s Church, Manchester. Simon Passmore was the organist.

4th July : Trio Sonata No. 1 for solo organ was given its first performance, as part of the recording sessions at St. Ann’s Church, Manchester. The organist was Simon Passmore. The CD ‘Passacaglia on a Theme of Benjamin Britten and other organ works’ will appear on the Prima Facie label.

19th July: Extracts from Sonata for Piano were broadcast on Austrian Radio (ORF1), as part of a programme featuring the CD recently released by pianist Duncan Honeybourne (to whom the Sonata is dedicated).

25th July: Prayer for St. Sebastian and Fanfare for St. Boniface were performed by the composer at the organ of the church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford.

16th August : Sonata for Violoncello and Pianoforte was performed at the lunchtime concert at the church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, by Joseph Spooner (Cello) and Duncan Honeybourne (Piano).

28th August: Richard Pantcheff’s Descant for ‘Cwm Rhondda’ will be performed by the English Choir Berlin, directed by Kathleen Bird, at Choral Evensong in Berlin Cathedral.

29th August: Service of Holy Communion was performed by the St. George’s Chamber Choir at St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, directed by Marnus Greyling.

8th September : Laudem Dicite, A Prayer of St Columba, Psalm 91 – ‘Qui Habitat’, The Sun’s Arising, Missa Brevis, Litany to the Holy Spirit, Remember O Lord, and Spirit of Mercy were performed by the London Choral Sinfonia at the Cadogan Hall in London, conducted by Michael Waldron, with Nick Pritchard the Tenor soloist. The concert is the launch event for the forthcoming CD release of ‘The Music of Richard Pantcheff: Volume 2’. The CD will appear on the Orchid Classics label in October 2021.

3rd October : The ‘Whitchurch’ Responses were given their first performance in the new arrangement for solo singer and organ, at the church of St. Michael at the North Gate, Oxford, as part of Sung Evening Prayer. Chris Williams was the baritone cantor, accompanied by the composer.

22nd October : The London Choral Sinfonia (cond. Michael Waldron) released their latest CD ‘The Music of Richard Pantcheff, Volume 2‘ on the Orchid Classics label. It features numerous works for Choir and Orchestra. In its pre-release phase, one of the tracks on the CD (A Prayer of St. Columba) features on three of Apple Music’s global playlists: New In Classical, Relaxing Classical, and Sacred Sounds.

28th November : Rondo South Africa was performed again by Mosaic (Alexandre Alvarez – Violoncello, Damian Bachmann – Clarinet, and Benjamin Faure – Piano) at La Mansarde, Veyrier, Switzerland.

  • 22nd January : Fanfare for St. Boniface was performed for Ripon College, Oxford, in the Church of All Saints, Cuddesdon, Oxford, by the composer.

    2nd February : Introduction and Allegro No.3 (‘Beethoven-Besinnung’) was given its US premiere by the Lee Trio at UCCA California.

    14th-16th February : The following works were performed at the inaugural English Music Festival in South Africa :

    The Gardens of Love for Solo Violin and Narrator was performed by Rupert Marshall-Luck (Violin) and Em Marshall-Luck (Narrator), at Brenthurst Gardens, Johannesburg. This work was specially-commissioned for the Festival.

    Suite : ‘King Richard III’ for Solo Violin was performed by Rupert Marshall-Luck at Brenthurst Gardens, Johannesburg.

    The Service of Holy Communion was performed by the St. George’s Chamber Choir, in St. George’s Church, Johannesburg, directed by the composer.

    Chorale Prelude – ‘Werde munter, mein Gemuete’ for solo organ (a commission from the Orgelbuechlein Project) was performed in St. George’s Church, Johannesburg, by Marnus Greyling.

    Responses – St. George were sung by the Choir of St. George’s Church, Johannesburg, directed by the composer.

    Nocturnus III for Woodwind Trio was performed by the Umoya Ensemble in St. George’s Church, Johannesburg.

    11th March : Voces Organi ‘II : Vexilla Regis prodeunt’ for solo organ was premiered by the composer at the service of Holy Communion for Ripon College, Oxford, at the Church of All Saints, Cuddesdon, Oxford.

    29th March : Turn again then unto thy rest will be performed at the Wesleyan Chapel, City Road, London, by the Akorina Consort, conducted by the composer. It will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4 as part of the Morning Service. POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    16th April : Easter Introit will be performed by the Akorina Consort at The Wesleyan Chapel, City Road, directed by the composer. POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    30th April (date to be confirmed) : Ihubo Ikhulu for SATB Choir (a commission from the Merton Choir Book) will receive its premiere in the Chapel of Merton College, Oxford, directed by Ben Nicholas. POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    6th May : A Hymn on Divine Musick will receive its world premiere in Berlin Cathedral, performed by the English Choir, Berlin, directed by Kathleen Bird. POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    8th May : Responses – ‘Frankfurt’ were streamed on the website of Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, during the Covid-19 lock-down, in a specially recorded service commemorating VE Day. The Cathedral Choir was conducted by Stephen Darlington.

    10th May : Fantasia 150 will be performed at the Temple Church, London, by Prof. Theo van Wyk (organ). POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    11th May : Te lucis ante terminum for unaccompanied SATB choir will be premiered at the London Festival of Contemporary Music (which commissioned the work). POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    17th May : Fanfare for St. Boniface for solo organ will be performed by the composer, at the Church of St. Michael at the Northgate, Oxford. POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    31st May : “…the field long-slept in pastoral green…” for solo violoncello was commissioned by Mickey Katz, cellist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra in the United States, and his premiere performance of the work was posted on Facebook.

    23rd August : A Sequence for St. George (first movement : “…for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven…”) was performed by the composer on the organ of St. Michael at the Northgate, Oxford.

    10th October : To Autumn for Solo Violin and Narrator will receive its US premiere at the Berkshire Chamber Music Series in Tanglewood, performed by Emily Daggett-Smith (Violin) and Benjamin Luxon (Narrator). The world premiere of a newly-commissioned work for solo violin and narrator will be performed at the same concert. POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19 PANDEMIC.

    18th October : Drop thy still dews was performed by the choir of St George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, directed by Marnus Greyling.

    29th November : Rondo South Africa will be performed as part of the MOSAIC concert series in Veyrier/Geneva (Switzerland).

    17th December : The Annunciation to Mary,  a new Christmas work for Narrator, Violin, and Pianoforte, (a setting of words by Rainer Maria Rilke translated by Richard Pantcheff) was premiered at the English Music Festival’s Christmas Garland, at St. Mary’s Church, Horsham, Sussex.

  • 20th January : Nunc Dimittis (from Evening Canticles – Berlin) was performed in St. George’s Anglican Church, Berlin, by the English Choir Berlin, directed by Kathleen Bird.

    27th January : Evening  Canticles – Berlin were recorded in the Corpus Christi Kirche in Berlin, by the work’s dedicatees : The English Choir, Berlin.

    10th February : Suite – King Richard III for solo violin, was performed by Rupert Marshall-Luck (violin) and Em Marshall-Luck (Reciter) at the Johannesburg Soiree Series, Johannesburg, South Africa.

    10th February : The Choir of St. Cyprian’s Cathedral, Kimberley, South Africa (directed by Peter Black) performed Missa Brevis, Anglican Chants, Drop thy still dews, and one movement from A Sequence for St. George in Kimberley Cathedral.

    15th February : Sonata for Violin and Organ and Agnus Dei (for Violin and Organ) was performed in St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, by Rupert Marshall-Luck (Violin) and Marnus Greyling (Organ).

    15th February : Choral Prelude ‘Werde Munter, mein’ Gemuete’ received its South African premiere, performed by Marnus Greyling on the organ of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg. This work was commissioned by St. George’s Church in response to a commission from the Orgelbuechlein Project.

    17th February : ‘To Autumn’ for Solo Violin and Narrator received its South African premiere at the Northwards Concert Series, Johannesburg, South Africa, performed by Rupert Marshall-Luck (Violin) and Em Marshall-Luck (Narrator).

    3rd March : Evening Canticles – Alderney were performed at Choral Evensong by the Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, South Africa, directed by Marnus Greyling.

    7th April : Richard Pantcheff’s performing edition of Samuel Henry Ramsbotham’s Abide with me was performed by the Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, directed by Marnus Greyling.

    10th May : Introduction and Allegro No.2 received its first performance, at the Theatre on the Square, Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa, by the work’s dedicatees, Zanta Hofmeyr (Violin) and Miro Chakaryan (Violin).

    18th May : Chorale Prelude – ‘Werde munter, mein Gemuete’ will be performed as part of the first complete performance of the Orgelbuechlein, including the specially-comissioned works written recently to complete the collection, as part of the Orgelbuechlein Project. The performance will take place at 12.00 noon at the Orgelpark, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

    19th May : Mass of Christ the Redeemer received its first performance, by the Choir of St. Pancras Church, London, directed by Christoper Batchelor. It is a commission from the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music.

    June (Sundays in) : Missa Brevis – English Edition will be performed by the Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, South Africa, directed by Marnus Greyling.

  • 1st April : Bless Thou The Lord was performed by the Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg directed by the composer.

    15th, 18th, 19th April : Rondo – South Africa was performed in Sofia (Bulgaria), Bratislava (Slovakia), and Vienna (Austria) respectively. Performers were Martin Selveliev (Clarinet), Theodora Atanasova (Violoncello), and Ines Simeonova (Pianoforte).

    17th April : Fantasia on ‘Haec Dies’, was performed at St. Pancras Church in London, being a commission from the 2017 London Festival of Contemporary Church Music.

    June : Richard Pantcheff’s edition of the Deutsche Messe by Franz Schubert was performed throughout June in Blackburn Cathedral, England.

    15th July : Turn again then unto thy rest and Descant : ‘Angel Voices, Ever Singing’ were performed by the Choir of Jesus College, Cambridge, directed by Richard Pinel, at St. George’s Anglican Church, in Johannesburg.

    8th September : Responses – ‘Frankfurt’ were performed in Berlin Cathedral, by the English Choir, Berlin, directed by Kathleen Bird.

    9th September : Responses – ‘Frankfurt’ were performed at Schlosskirche Wittenberg, by the English Choir, Berlin, directed by Kathleen Bird.

    26th September : Fanfare for St. Boniface was performed in Carlisle Cathedral, by Stephen Crookes (Organ).

    7th October : Introduction and Allegro (for Solo Violin and Solo Violoncello) received its UK premiere at the English Music Festival in Yorkshire. Two new specially-comissioned works also received their world premiere at the festival : Fantasia on Yorkshire Folk Tunes (for Solo Violin and Solo Violoncello), and ‘To Autumn’ (for Solo Violin and Narrator). The performers were Em Marshall-Luck (Narrator), Rupert Marshall-Luck (Violin), and Joseph Spooner (Violoncello).

    6th October : Evening Canticles – ‘Berlin’ received their first performance, by the English Choir, Berlin, conducted by Kathleen Bird, in Berlin Cathedral. The work was performed again, in Berlin Cathedral, by the same choir on 3rd November.

    24th November : A Prayer of St. Columba was performed by the choir of Magdalen College, Oxford, directed by Mark Williams.

    1st December : Service of Holy Communion (1662), written in memory of Ralph Vaughan Williams in the sixtieth anniversary year of his death, was premiered by the Chamber Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, directed by the composer.

    2nd December : Adam lay ybounden was performed by the Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, directed by the composer, at the Service of Carols for Advent.

    23rd December : A Christmas Carol was performed by the choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, at the Festival Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, directed by Marnus Greyling.

    30th December : Chorale Prelude : ‘Werde munter, mein Gemuete’ (a commission from the Orgelbuechlein Project) received its world premiere in Westminster Abbey, London, played by Jem Stephenson.

  • 17th January : Richard Pantcheff’s arrangement of Hubert Parry’s ‘Long Since in Egypt’s Plenteous Land‘, for SATB Choir, received its UK premiere, sung by the choir of Portsmouth Cathedral.

    5th March : A Prayer of St. Columba was performed by the choir of Downing College, Cambridge, directed by Marnus Greyling, with Christopher Robinson (Organ).

    2nd April : Nocturnus VI : ‘4th December 1976’ for Solo Organ received its world premiere by the work’s dedicatee, Gerrit Jordaan, on the Rieger organ of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg.

    10th May : Fantasia on ‘Haec Dies’ for Solo Organ was premiered at London Festival of Contemporary Church Music, which commissioned the work, with Peter Foggett (Organ). It was broadcast live on BBC Radio 3 as the concluding voluntary of broadcast Choral Evensong.

    11th May : Evening Canticles – Frankfurt received their UK premiere, performed by the choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, conducted by Stephen Layton.

    12th May : Suite – King Richard III will be featured as part of a DVD being recorded by the English Music Festival in Middleham, Yorkshire, England. Musical performances will be by Rupert Marshall-Luck (Violin).

    4th June : Spirit of Mercy received its first liturgical performance, and first performance in the UK, by the choir of Downing College, Cambridge, directed by Marnus Greyling, with Christopher Robinson (organ).

    24th June : Phos Hilaron was performed by the City of Oxford Choir, in the chapel of the Queen’s College, Oxford, directed by Duncan Aspden, in a concert celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the choir’s foundation.

    19th July : Spirit of Mercy was performed in the chapel of Trinity College, Cambridge, conducted by Michael Waldron.

    13th August : Drop thy still dews, and the Missa Brevis performed by the choir of St. Cyprian’s Cathedral, Kimberley, South Africa, directed by Peter Black.

    4th-8th October : Richard Pantcheff will be the composer in residence for the Kimberley Festival of Voices, at St. Cyprian’s Cathedral, Kimberley, South Africa. Organist will be Peter Black, and the Director will be George King. Works to be featured will be : Drop thy still dews; Evening Canticles – Whitchurch; and the specially-commissioned Responses – St. Cyprian.

    8th October : Sonata for Violin and Organ was performed in Aysgarth Parish Church, Yorkshire, at the English Music Festival, by Rupert Marshall-Luck (Violin) and Duncan Honeybourne (Organ).

    24th October : Evening Canticles – Frankfurt performed by the Choir of Merton College, Oxford, conducted by Benjamin Nicholas.

    16th November : A Prayer of St. Columba was performed by the choir of Jesus College, Cambridge, directed by Richard Pinel.

    17th-19th November : Rondo -‘South Africa’ received its first performance as part of the Mosaic Series of concerts presented by the Swiss-Bulgarian Association of Culture. Performers were Damian Bachmann (Clarinet), Alessio Pianelli (Violoncello), and Benjamin Faure (Piano) at : les Chaux-de-Fonds (Switzerland); Besancon (France); and Chambery/ Geneva (Switzerland) on consecutive days. The Series will tour Macedonia, Bulgaria, and Slovenia in 2018.

    19th November : Nocturnus IV, for solo Violoncello, received its first performance, by the work’s dedicatee, Jeremy Clarke, at the Papillon Centre, Wakkerstroom, South Africa.

    3rd December : Adam lay ybounden was performed by the Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, at its Service of Carols for Advent, directed by the composer.

    23rd December : ‘Puer Nobis’ (‘Unto us a child is born’) was performed by the Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, at its Festival Service of Nine Lessons and Carols, directed by the composer.

    15th May : Missa Brevis – St. Pancras premiered by the Choir of St. Pancras Church, London, conducted by Christopher Batchelor, as part of the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music, which commissioned the work.

    20th May : Suite – King Richard III received its South African premiere, being performed by Zanta Hofmeyr (Violin) at St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, as part of the Rand Club Chamber Music Series.

    26th May : Benediction for SATB Choir and Organ premiered by the work’s dedicatees : the Choir of St. Cyprian’s Cathedral, Kimberley, South Africa.

    6th June : Two Short Pieces for Organ received their world premiere at St. Saviour’s Church, Eastbourne, England, performed by Alexander Eadon. He has also just released a CD featuring both of these works on the organ of Arundel Cathedral, where the CD was launched at a recital on 23rd October.

    18th June : Responses – Frankfurt performed in the Berliner Dom by the English Choir, Berlin, directed by Kathleen Bird.

    8th September : Spirit of Mercy performed by the Choir of the Central University of Technology, Bloemfontein, South Africa, at the Linder Auditorium in Johannesburg, in the semi-finals of the Varsity Sing Competition. Broadcast on ‘Kyknet’ Television in South Africa on 15th September.

    15th October : Sonata for Violin and Organ performed by the work’s dedicatees, Zanta Hofmeyr (Violin) and Prof. Wim Viljoen (Organ) in St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, South Africa.

    30th October : Missa Brevis – St. Pancras performed by the Choir of St. Pancras Church, London, directed by Christopher Batchelor.

    4th November : Introduction and Allegro (Opus 97) received its world premiere, performed by Miro Chakaryan (Violin) and Wessel Beukes (Violoncello) at St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, as part of the Rand Club Chamber Music Series.

    17th November : Fantasia 150 received its US premiere, performed by Professor Theo van Wyk at the Organ of the University of North Texas.

    November and December : The Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, directed by the composer, will perform two works for Advent and Christmas : Adam Lay Ybounden; and Ding, dong ! Merrily on high.
