  • Chorale Prelude : ‘Werde munter, mein Gemuete’ (104)
    Solo Organ. Commissioned by St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, South Africa, for inclusion in the Orgelbuechlein Project (see http://www.orgelbuechlein.co.uk). Premiered by Jeremiah Stephenson in Westminster Abbey, London, on 30th December 2018. The first South African performance was given by Marnus Greyling on the organ of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, on 15th February 2019.

    Six Chorale Preludes for Solo Organ. First performed by the composer on the organ of the City Church of St. Michael at the Northgate, Oxford, on 25th May 2022.

    V – ‘Wind oor die Branders’ (‘Wind on the waves’). Solo piano. Commissioned for the seventieth birthday of Carl Franz Schelhase. First performed in Johannesburg, on 30th October 2015.

    VI – ‘4th December 1976’. Solo organ. Written in memory of Benjamin Britten on the fortieth anniversary of his death. Commissioned by Gerrit Jordaan, who premiered the work at St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, on 2nd April 2017. Arranged in 2020 for Flugelhorn and String orchestra at the behest of the London Choral Sinfonia.

    No. 1 – Ex Ore Innocentium, commissioned and premiered at the 2013 London Festival of Contemporary Church Music, in St. Pancras Church, London, on 19th May 2013, directed by Christopher Batchelor.
    No. 2 – A Christmas Carol, for SATB Choir and Organ, premiered by the Choir of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, on 14th December 2014, directed by the composer.
    No. 3 – Christ King, Fair Christ, for SATB Choir and Chamber Organ, commissioned for the Alumni of the Choir of the Episcopal Church of Christ the King, Frankfurt on its tour to Berlin in 2014.
    No. 4 – Come back in sleep.
    No. 5 – Summer Transfigured, for unaccompanied SATB Choir, commissioned for the Chanticleer Singers and Richard Cock. An additional version of this work was created using an alternative text : ‘The Bird’ by Henry Vaughan (1621-95).

    Anthem for unaccompanied SATB Choir. Words : Psalm 100 (in Zulu). Commissioned for the Merton Choirbook, in honour of the 750th Anniversary of the foundation of Merton College, Oxford.

    Nocturnus (90)

    Six works for solo instruments or ensembles :

    I – Flugelhorn and Organ. Premiered by Jevon O’Donovan (Flugelhorn) and Marnus Greyling (Organ) at the Wakkerstroom  Music Festival on 22nd March 2014. Arranged in 2020 for Flugelhorn and String orchestra at the behest of the London Choral Sinfonia.

    II – Violin and Harp. Premiered by Miro Chakaryan (Violin) and Ventura Rosenthal (Harp) at the Rand Club Chamber Music Series, on 6th April 2014;

    III – Woodwind Trio. Premiered by the Umoya Ensemble at the Rand Club Chamber Music Series on 16th February 2014;

    IV – Solo Cello. Premiered by Jeremy Clarke at the Papillon Centre, Wakkerstroom, South Africa on 19th November 2017.

    V – ‘Wind oor die Branders’ (‘Wind on the waves’). Solo piano. Commissioned for the seventieth birthday of Carl Franz Schelhase. First performed in Johannesburg, on 30th October 2015.

    VI – ‘4th December 1976’. Solo organ. Written in memory of Benjamin Britten on the fortieth anniversary of his death. Commissioned by Gerrit Jordaan, who premiered the work at St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, on 2nd April 2017. Arranged in 2020 for Flugelhorn and String orchestra at the behest of the London Choral Sinfonia.

    No. 1 – Crown with love, Lord, this glad day. Words by Ian Masson Fraser. A wedding anthem. Written for the wedding service of Sarah Pantcheff and Noel Radcliffe-Marrs, in Christ Church Cathedral, Oxford, on 10th May 2014.

    No. 2 – Psalm 91 – Qui Habitat. Commissioned by Josef Langermann for his wife, Kristy. Premiered by the Choir of St. George’s Church, Johannesburg, on 4th May 2014, directed by the composer.

    No. 3 – Rise, Heart, thy Lord is risen. Words by G. Herbert. Commissioned by the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music. Premiered by the choir of St. Pancras Church, London, in the National Gallery, London, on 16th May 2014, conducted by Christopher Batchelor.

    No. 4 – Rex Gloriae. Words from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer. Commissioned by the 2015 London Festival of Contemporary Church Music. Premiered in St. Pancras Church, London, by the choir of St. Pancras Church, conducted by Christopher Batchelor, on 13th May 2015. Broadcast live on BBC Radio 3.

    No. 5 – Domine Exaudi. Words from Psalm 102, vv1-2. Commissioned and premiered on 23rd March 2016 by the St. George’s Chamber Choir, St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, South Africa, conducted by the composer.

    Piano Trio. World premiere took place on 12th October 2019 at the Musikhochschule Johann Sebastian Bach, Leipzig, Germany, by the work’s dedicatees, The Lee Trio.

    SATB Choir. Commissioned by the Three Choirs Festival, at St. Cyprian’s Cathedral, Kimberley, South Africa. Given their world premiere at the Festival, 4th-8th October 2017, by the choir of St. Cyprian’s Cathedral, Kimberley, South Africa, directed by Peter Black.

    Sonata for Piano (99)

    Solo piano. First performed on 6th November 2019, at the 1901 Arts Club, London, by the work’s dedicatee, Duncan Honeybourne.

    Evening Service in E Major – Berlin (100)

    Evening Canticles and Responses for SATB Choir, unaccompanied. Commissioned for the English Choir of Berlin, and its Director of Music, Kathleen Bird. Evening Canticles were premiered on 6th October 2018, and the Responses on 23rd June 2019, both in Berlin Cathedral.

    Setting of the Mass for Choir and Organ. Commissioned by the London Festival of Contemporary Church Music in 2019. Premiered by the choir of St. Pancras Church, London, on 19th May 2019, directed by Christopher Batchelor.

    Chorale Prelude : ‘Werde munter, mein Gemuete’ (104)

    Solo Organ. Commissioned by St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, South Africa, for inclusion in the Orgelbuechlein Project (see http://www.orgelbuechlein.co.uk). Premiered by Jeremiah Stephenson in Westminster Abbey, London, on 30th December 2018. The first South African performance was given by Marnus Greyling on the organ of St. George’s Anglican Church, Johannesburg, on 15th February 2019.

    Concert piece for Contrabassoon and Orchestra. Commissioned by Inge Hadorn, and premiered by her in the version for Contrabassoon and Piano, at St. Peter’s School, Johannesburg, on 8th June 2010, with Mark Baker (Piano).
